The parishes of the United Benefice of Kirkwhelpington, Kirkharle, Kirkheaton and Cambo are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs.
The Diocese of Newcastle’s safeguarding pages (click here) contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

Kirkwhelpington, Kirkharle, Kirkheaton and Cambo have been joined together under the auspices of the Diocese, who is providing cover for any persons needing help, support, or advice, or if anyone wishes to report concerns about a third party. Should anyone wish to ask for help or report any of these, they should report them to Ann Purves, the PCC Secretary in Kirkwhelpington in the first instance. These matters will then be dealt with through the appropriate channels at Church House. Telephone: 01830 540376.
